We also invite you to visit any of our stores for more information.POSITION SUMMARY Sells health/natural food and products to individuals in retail store and provides excellent customer service. Assists with coordination of store activities under the direction of the Assistant Store Manager or Store Manager. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Greets customers on sales floor; determines brand, type, and quality of merchandise desired; and assists customers to locate merchandise. Displays merchandise, suggests selections that meet customer's needs, and emphasizes selling points of article such as quality and utility. Prints price labels. Acts as cashier using POS system. Prepares sales slip or sales contract, receives payment or obtains credit authorization and bags merchandise for customer. Lists out-of-stock items or special customer needs. Completes the audit envelope (including the cash spreadsheet and deposit). Handles all money and bank deposits in a safe and responsible manner. Approves returns and exchanges at the register within their approval level. Places new merchandise on display; stocks shelves neatly according to product type, brand and size. Rotates stock and checks for expired product. Prepares and maintains inventory of stock. Conducts cycle counts and physical inventory from start to finish, including counting product and trouble shooting. Counts, sorts, or weighs incoming products to verify receipt of items on requisition or invoices. Examines stock to verify conformance to specifications and checks for damage or infestation. Compiles reports on adjustments of inventory counts and stock records, spoilage of or damage to stock, location changes, and refusals of shipment. Assists with miscellaneous POS and Catapult tasks. Determines methods of storage, identification and stock location (considering temperature, humidity, height and weight limits, turnover, floor loading capacities, and required space) and stores articles in appropriate locations according to identifying information such as style, size, or type of material. Performs basic supervisory duties as directed by the Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager, during periods when management is absent from the store. Fosters a positive work environment and adheres to all company policies and procedures. Assists in keeping the store's cleanliness and sanitation (i.e. sweeping, mopping, washing windows, and cleaning restrooms) at or above standards set by the company. Complies with safety and GMP requirements. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High school diploma or GED and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of the retail industry - nutritional retail experience preferred. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, or governmental regulations. Ability to write general business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from customers and the general public. REASONING ABILITY Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES Knowledge of health/natural food products preferred. Must have good people and communication skills. Previous retail sales experience preferred. Excellent customer service skills, organizational and problem-solving skills required. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Outlook preferred. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
