Job Description:

The Self-Pay Collector will work within the Medical Self-Pay department following standard operational procedures to ensure that patients/debtors are notified of delinquent accounts via telephone and mail. The Collector will attempt to secure payment in full or make suitable arrangements. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Collect 100% of assigned monthly goal; achieve a minimum of 95% on a 3 month rolling average. Accurately update and maintain patient account information Provide the patient/debtor with information regarding dates of service, patient information, and request for validation of the debt, itemized bills, financial assistance etc. Document all activity in CUBS and updates statuses on accounts according to department guidelines. Maintain WIP according to departmental guidelines. Maintain production and quality assurance standards according to department guidelines including Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and HIPPA compliance. Verify insurance eligibility on accounts and send appropriate billing or refer verified workmans compensation or personal injury to the Insurance Department for handling. All other duties assigned QUALIFICATIONS Minimum education: High School Diploma or equivalent 1+ year preferred collections, customer service or call center experience Must have Microsoft office skills Preferred knowledge of CUBS or other collection system Preferred knowledge of FDCPA and HIPAA Excellent written and verbal communication skills Bilingual a plus but not required Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals Regular and consistent attendance and punctuality All other duties assigned SKILLS Ability to multitask; work in fast-paced and stressful environment Strong attention to detail, and goal oriented Ability to negotiate and persuade Self motivated and self directed; ability to work without supervision
