Job Description:
The University of Chicago's Department of Pediatrics, Section of
Emergency Medicine, seeks part-time Clinical Associates for
renewable one-year terms as Primary Attending at our Pediatric
Level I Trauma accredited Emergency Room at Comer Children's
Hospital. These positions require collaborative physicians who will
be positioned to succeed in a busy, dynamic environment. These
positions do not require teaching or scholarly activity.
Compensation is dependent on clinical shifts worked. UChicago
Medicine is located on the main University campus in Chicago's Hyde
Park neighborhood. Comer Children's Hospital is a state of art free
standing children's hospital within the medical complex. The
Pediatric Emergency Room treats more than 35,000 patients per year
and is the only Level I Pediatric Trauma Center on the south side
of Chicago. It is a newly renovated facility with 22 general exam
rooms, two procedure rooms, two triage rooms and two
trauma/resuscitation rooms. The Section of Pediatric Emergency
Medicine is committed to medical education, clinical research,
patient care, and community service. The section has a full
accredited fellowship program and a nurse practitioner program. Its
faculty members are actively involved in scholarship and training.
The program has active pediatrics, med/peds and emergency medicine
residency programs, and precepts University of Chicago Pritzker
School of Medicine medical students. Prior to the start of
employment, qualified applicants must: 1) have a medical doctorate
or equivalent, 2) hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the
State of Illinois and 3) be Board certified in Pediatrics and/or be
Board certified or Board eligible in Pediatric Emergency Medicine.
