Registered Nurse (RN) | Correctional Location: Broadview, IL Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $1,999 per week Shift Information: 3 days Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: 3/23/2026 About the Position TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find a qualified Correctional RN in Broadview, Illinois, 60155! Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Registered Nurse Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 36 hours guaranteed per week Experience: Minimum of one year of professional nursing experience preferred License: Current nursing license in the state of employment required Certifications: Valid driver's license required Description: The Registered Nurse (RN) plans and provides comprehensive nursing care. This includes executing orders from Licensed Independent Providers. Dispensing and administering medications is part of the responsibilities. Assisting Licensed Independent Providers in examinations and treatment of patients is required. The RN applies nursing and supervisory techniques in the care, treatment, and referrals of inmates/residents. All technical and clinical procedures must be performed within the scope of education and licensure. The RN applies appropriate nursing skills in the treatment of inmates/residents. Attendance during sick calls with physicians is necessary to evaluate inmates/residents. Preparation of lists of inmates/residents to be examined is required. The RN must prepare the examining room and necessary equipment. Dispensing medication and documenting as required by applicable policies and procedures is essential. The RN is responsible for calling Licensed Independent Providers for medication and treatment orders as needed. Examination and assessment of new inmates/residents with illnesses or injuries is part of the role. Inmates/residents who become ill or injured must be referred to emergency care as required. The RN is expected to perform emergency procedures and notify Licensed Independent Providers for treatment orders. Coordinating professional medical services with contract personnel is necessary. Maintaining good working relationships with facility staff, nursing staff, and outside provider agencies is essential. Utilizing established policies and procedures in decision-making while applying sound independent judgment is expected. Regular evaluations of the provision of medical services to prevent inappropriate use are necessary. Maintaining confidentiality of all medical records is a priority. Assisting with the review of medical files to ensure all services are documented is required. Monitoring potential catastrophic illnesses closely is essential. Auditing pharmacy use for adherence to formulary as directed or required is part of the responsibilities. Complying with all applicable pharmacy laws, especially those concerning controlled substances, is mandatory. Observation and recording of inmate/resident behavior is required. Inspecting the medical unit for items that could be used as contraband must be performed regularly. Providing health counseling and education on an individual or group basis is necessary. Assisting in the preparation and maintenance of various records, reports, and logs using appropriate grammar is required. The RN must read, analyze, comprehend, and interpret medical and technical procedures and relevant documents. Reviewing and processing lawsuits, and attending court hearings when necessary, is part of the job. Facilitating accreditation of the medical program by providing approved medical services is important. Preparing and disseminating safety and accident reports as required by policy is necessary. The RN must take appropriate action in cases of serious incidents and emergencies.
