Manufacturing Design Engineer, where you’ll lead the development of
automated manufacturing machinery, drive process and product
improvements, and support new product implementations. This role

Responsibilities: Design & Development Engineer manufacturing
processes, machinery, support equipment, tooling, and procedures.
Create efficient plant layouts to optimize material flow and space
utilization. Project Execution Lead machine construction, component
manufacturing, integration, installation, and startup. Manage tasks
to meet project timelines and budgets. Technical Support & Problem
Solving Investigate and resolve equipment issues using data
analysis and root cause methodologies. Research and select
automation components and material handling systems. Collaboration
& Innovation Partner with Fastener Engineering to support new
product designs and equipment modifications. Ensure compliance with
safety, environmental, and legal standards. Administrative &
Continuous Improvement Maintain timely reporting, participate in
meetings, and manage projects. Develop and improve safe work
methods and manufacturing techniques. Other duties as assigned
Competencies: Communication: The position requires accurate
communication with others within the business. Ability to translate
and communicate technical ideas & design principles. Continuous
Improvement: Ability to evaluate current designs, determine root
causes to problems and design/recommend/implement appropriate
changes for improvement. Technical/Professional knowledge: The
ability to demonstrate technical knowledge and expertise in the
areas of mechanical designs, materials and construction of machines
and tooling. Project Management: Ability to structure and manage
project tasks as assigned in support of more senior engineers
Teamwork: Assists peers on area of expertise. Seeks input and
assistance from others. Open to feedback. Personal Effectiveness:
Sets priorities, determines resource requirements and completes
tasks as assigned. Job Requirements: Bachelor Degree in Mechanical
Engineering required 7-10 years of experience in high-volume
manufacturing Demonstrated experience & levels of responsibility in
designing and troubleshooting automated manufacturing equipment
Knowledge and application of engineering and technology skills with
a focus on problem-solving, innovation and continuous improvement
Excellent communication and collaboration skills with
internal/external stakeholders Proficiency in SolidWorks CADD
software; AutoCAD experience is a plus Willingness to travel
domestically and internationally periodically. On rare occasions
travel may extend a week in duration. Willingness to commute daily
to other ITW Construction Chicagoland locations and Northern
Illinois machine builders/OEMS dependent on project assignments
Ability to work flexible hours, outside of normal workday, to
accommodate meetings with global teams and Original Equipment
Manufacturers (OEMs) Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma,
Value Stream Mapping, and capital projects is a plus Work

parental leave. The annual base salary range for this position is
$125,000 - $140,000. Please note that this salary information
