Job Description:

The mission of our program is to provide our students with a high quality of education that offers instruction in both the academic and social/emotional realms. The purpose of the academy is to provide students with social/emotional/behavioral issues with a state-of-the-art therapeutic day program. Through hands-on instructional experiences, as well as a therapeutic approach in art, music, and movement, the program is designed to meet all of the needs of this diverse student population.The Special Education Teacher will deliver high-quality instruction and curriculum and collaborate with both school personnel and families to provide services to students. Our teachers and staff provide individualized academic and behavioral interventions, personalized attention, and all necessary support services students need for success. All staff will be highly trained on instructional and therapeutic strategies and techniques.Duties:Help develop knowledge and skills, nurture the confidence and character, and meet the needs of all students by using Connections Academy instructional models, strategies, and curriculumDevelop and maintain individualized lesson plansUtilize school's behavior support and intervention strategiesEstablish and maintain student forms and files as required by Connections Academy, local, state, and/or federal agencies including but not limited to Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), Behavior Intervention Plans, Incident Reports, High-Risk Evaluation Forms, etc.Drive, record, and track student growth and progress towards academic, social, and emotional goalsEnsure the safety and supervision of students at all timesLight lifting, walking, and/or climbing stairs may be required Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution of higher learning requiredMust have LBS1 Special Education License or endorsement for K-12Knowledge and expertise in child development.Knowledge and experience leading teacher assistants, working within a collaborative team and supporting students' family.
